The Story

This family returned from a weekend away to their Forest Hills Drive home to find that the 80-year-old galvanized plumbing had succumbed in its battle with the inevitable. The 1st floor plaster ceiling finish got soaked and collapsed onto the floor and furnishings of the living room below. They figured that if they were undertaking the expense of a major repair, then it would be cost-effective to couple the repair with a remodel of both of their second floor bathrooms.

We removed nearly 10,000 pounds of tile and thick-set mortar from these spaces and completely replaced the floor system of the master bathroom with new I-joists. This new, engineered floor system allowed us valuable design opportunities for the layout of both a larger shower and a Jacuzzi. We installed radiant floor heat in the master bathroom floor and on its shower’s built-in bench.

In the guest bathroom shower, an accent line of a hand-made Italian mosaic tile in the marble brick-pattern tile elevated the guest bath’s aesthetic to an entirely new level. Custom base cabinetry and medicine cabinets, new windows, and recessed lighting topped off the features of both bathrooms.

"I have owned 6 houses and gone through numerous renovations and the recent renovation of my bathrooms has been the most pleasing. I was impressed with how  scrupulous Christopher was about keeping appointments, returning phone calls and  keeping me up to date with the sequence of the project. It was obvious that he felt that my time was as important as his. They even cleaned up the work site at the end of each day!"
